This is a wonderful little dowsing mat, black velvet with violet embroidery.
When dowsing, it is customary to ask questions with yes or no answers. Typically you watch to see if the pendulum swings one way or another. Some people like the method of having the words yes and no printed, and asking the pendulum to show the answer by pointing at the specific word. You'll be amazed - this really does work!
